Dreg Ragers are cultists of Admonition and formidable enemies. It is best to either kill them at range or stagger them. Chain weapons will stun them in place. Zealous admonition cultists that appear to have been experimenting with stimm injectors of some kind, Dreg Ragers are lethal melee enemies that can cut down Rejects in seconds if given the opportunity. They usually appear as roamers, elites mixed in hordes, set encounters, as part of melee patrols leading Dreg Bruisers, or as an entire patrol of only ragers.

Ragers are relatively agile melee enemies that can rapidly dish out high amounts of damage with chained melee attacks that are difficult to interrupt if you do not come prepared. Both variants of ragers have identical attack patterns of up to four-swing combo melee attacks with their dual weapons that deal heavy damage. They do not cower from suppression or other effects but can be knocked back and staggered with sufficient force.

The main difference between Dreg and Scab Ragers is that Dreg Ragers are armored in Maniac armor instead of Flak armor. This makes them comparatively more resistant to power weapons but less resistant to several conventional weapon types.

Appearance[]

Dreg Ragers appear as large, bald, muscular cultists with cloudy eyes and wearing the filthy rags of the Cult of Admonition, Nurglish runes are tattoed on their flesh, and their right shoulder is swollen and lumpy with boils pockmarking its diseased flesh. Glowing green vials of liquid (likely combat stimms) are also implanted on their back. Ragers typically wield crude melee weapons similar to that of Groaners and Poxwalkers, commonly a set of axes built of circular sawblades and wrenches.

Combat[]

Trying to out-DPS a Rager with quick melee attacks is generally inadvisable as, while you can win, you can lose a lot of health unnecessarily. Pick them off with ranged attacks at a distance ideally, and most ranged weapons will work. Note that they will not be easily staggered with most anti-horde weapons aside from grenades.

  • The counter attack from the special weapon action of Combat Swords can stagger and sometimes outright kill an attacking Rager.
  • Individual Rager attacks can be blocked, though they will break your guard very rapidly if you try to block multiple chained attacks, and blocking them does not interrupt their flow, so this should only be resorted to if you cannot dodge. They also have higher stagger resistance than normal and will resist most pushes after the first attempt.
  • Force Sword, Chainsword, Chainaxe, and Power Sword/Maul special attacks can dispatch ragers quickly and stagger them on all difficulties. A parry from a Catachan "Devil's Claw" Swords can also counter a rager focused on the user.
  • Ogryn Skullbreakers have a significantly easier time dispatching ragers at close range due to the wide variety of high stagger attacks at their disposal, in addition to having high block efficiency and being able to better resist their attacks.
  • Some high stagger weapons, such as the Zealot's Purgation Flamer or Psyker's Purgatus Force Staff, all have high stagger light attacks that can stun lock multiple ragers at once. This can defend teammates from a wave of ragers as well as allow teammates to deal with them. The Shredder Autopistol can also easily stagger ragers with a brief amount of sustained fire.

  • The Dreg Ragers of Tertium could be stimm-addled brutes similar to that of the Stimmers of House Goliath in Necromunda. Both have a similar liquid injection system attached to their backs, and both appear to abuse combat drugs to increase their strength and toughness.
