Hab Dreyko[]
Investigation // Morrow (+Hestia & Nobles), Morrow (+Wolfer), Brahms (+Kayex)
A new form of the Blight has hit Transit Hub HL-16-11 hard. Scan the plague residue and maybe we'll get lucky.
Overview[]
Hab Dreyko is a quarantined zone, alongside the neighboring Hab Laranax. Between Hab Dreyko and Hab Laranax is the Burnout Bazaar, above which are various catwalks and maintenance pathways through it's superstructure. Biotic Probes are used to inject the tree with said shriving unguent.
The Magos Kharib is a Magos Biologis, who assumedly is an acolyte of Grendyl, is working to create a blessed unguent of shriving to poison the Phage Tree within Hab Block Laranax.
The entrance of Hab Block Laranax is marked by Moebian 21st corpses on display. These were likely one of the many Advance Recon teams Interrogator Rannick sent initially sent into the lower levels of the hive to discover the true extent of the unrest on Atoma. It's possible that this could be the same team as those in the Official Teaser Trailer and World Intro Trailer.

Intro | We've got a Phage Tree to poison in Hab Blobk Laranax. / The Phage tree in Hab Block Laranax needs to die, and you need to kill it. / Tonight, you're indulging a bit of anti-hydroponics: killing the Phage Tree in Hab Block Laranax. | There's something nasty in HL-16-11. You're gonna do something about it. / The Blight keeps spreading out of HL-16-11. We need to slow it down. / Things ain't good in HL-16-11, so guess where you're heading? | The Phage Tree in Hab Block Laranax must be suppressed ... or preferably destroyed. That brings me to you. / I am told that a Phage Tree in Hab Block Laranax is the source of the Blight. Well, we can't have that. / The Phage Tree in Hab Block Laranax is an increasing concern. I can't have operatives bringing its Blight aboard ship. |
That means getting up to the minute data on the current iteration of the Blight to facilitate the creation of what Magos Kharib calls a "blessed unguent of shriving". Don't ask me. That's what I was told. / The tree's always in flux, which means the Blight's always evolving. If we get data on the latter, we can craft a blessed unguent of shriving - whatever that is - to nobble the former. / That being the case, we need what I'm told is a "blessed unguent of shriving". Which in turn means that we need current data on the Phage Tree's Blight. That comes first. | You'll proceed to Hab Dreyko and gather data on the current Blight strain. We'll use that to tailor a shriving unguent that can kill off that festering "tree" in Hab Laranax. / The Phage Tree in Hab Laranax is a key Blight source, so you're gonna gather some data for(so?*) Magos Kharib can create a(the?*) necessary shriving unguent. With me so far? / You'll be taking out the Phage Tree in Hab Laranax. To do that, Magos Kharib needs data on the latest Blight iteration to tailor a shriving unguent. | Gather data from Hab Block Dreyko that we can use to create a blessed unguent of shriving to poison the tree's ... unique nature. / We require Blight data from Hab Block Dreyko, in order to sythesise a shriving unguent capable of poisoning the tree. / You will gather data from the area, allowing us to create a blessed unguent of shriving capable of destroying the tree.
Oh ... And we've got oversight from Tertium's noble houses for the duration. Lucky old us. / You've got the easy job. I've got to play nice with some of Tertium's nobility. Rannick's idea. Bastard. / Some of Tertium's nobility have wangled their way into this one. Try to ignore them. I wish I could. | My advice? Wear gloves and breathe as little as possible. You come back infected and you won't be coming back at all. / Make no mistake: this is gonna be a mucky job. If you've got any complaint? I don't want to hear them. Got it? / Should be straightforward enough ... if you keep your nerve and don't go touching things you shouldn't. Guess we'll see, won't we? | I will be monitoring you closely. I recommend that you do not disappoint. / Shall we? After all, you've come an awfully long way for this. / Do try not to make a muddle of things.
Transit Hub HL-16-11-421 - Service Gantry
(Enter HL-16-11-315 Hab Dreyko) | Mamzel Durellia: Rannick claimed these were his best operatives. I must say, they don't look it. / If this strike team's appearance is of any indication, this mission is already a failure. / Are these ragamuffins really the best Rannick can provide? |
|
Kayex: How may I assist, aid, support you shipmistress? / Summoned, I arrive to serve thy bidding ... though little I comprehend the reasoning. |
Sister Prine: I can vouch for their ability, excellency. / You do them an injustice, excellency. / Their records are ... impressive, excellency. | Brahms: Knowledge is always valuable, Kayex. A fine quarry. / It's very simple, Kayex. I'm curious about the Blight ... and I don't trust Rannick to indulge my curiosity.
Sire Mangolin: It quite escapes me as to why you are here, novitiate. / Your opinion was not courted, novitiate. Nor your presence wanted. | Kayex: Ah ... You seek understanding. A worthy, forthright, noble goal. / Examination of the Omnissiah's grand purpose is ever wise.
Sister Prine: I go where Interrogator Rannick sends me. / Interrogator Rannick bid me attend on his behalf. / I am Interrogator Rannick's protege. He bid me attend. | Captain Wolfer: Our allies won't like that. Very well. Despatch response teams. / Is that so? Then they're after the Phage Tree. Alert the response teams. | Brahms: Rannick will object, but what does that matter to anyone? / Rannick will likely not agree, but that is Rannick's problem. / I'm sure Rannick will see it elsewise, but that is very much his problem.
Morrow: Is all that sorted? Good. Because I've got a mission to run. / I'm glad that's sorted. Back to the war. / All friends now, are we? How nice. | Morrow: Gets addictive, this eavesdropping. I used to be an honest soldier. / Glad this widget of Hadron's is still working. Sounds like you're expected. / I'm starting to see why Rannick loves listening in so much.

(Enter HL-16-11-315 Hab Dreyko) | Morrow: Could be a bit of unpleasantness in Hab Dreyko, excellencies. I hope you don't have weak stomachs. / Hab Dreyko. Move in, but watch your backs. / Hab Dreyko sighted. It's a bit of a heretic nest these days, excellencies. |
|
Kayex: Here was wickedness wrought upon the Omnissiah's children. / Spare a moment of grief for the unhappy mechanisms; perverted, misused ... soiled. / The systems of HL-16-11 are screaming, wailing, writhing. They mourn the dead. |
|
Brahms: Regrets and sorrow are of little service, Enginseer. / A tale told in many quarters, its power lessened in each retelling. / There is little profit in sorrow, Kayex.
Sister Prine: The Emperor loves them still ... even if others do not. / Tertium's leaders abandoned them long ago. / We should pity them. Heresy spreads out of neglect as much as wickedness. | Captain Wolfer: Wake the poxers. The groaners. Everyone. / Instruct all squad leaders to prepare a suitable welcome. / Remind squad leaders of the price of failure. | Kayex: Indeed. Indeed. / As you say, shipmistress.

Morrow: Watch your step. This place looks like it could collapse at any minute. / Could be an ambush around every corner. Stick together. / Stay alert. They'll be coming for you. | Brahms: I suppose I should be grateful that stench does not carry over vox and auspex. / This is all quite splendidly vile. Wouldn't you agree, Kayex? / Disgusting. Though I really don't know why I expected better. Do you agree? |
Sister Prine: Surely it falls to us to restore hope? / These people were abandoned. We should not repeat the mistake. / The inhabitants were forgotten. Little wonder they grew desperate. | Kayex: A thousand imperfections seethe beneath the surface. / Decay ... All is decay. Soul, circuit and sorrow. / The distress of filament and circuit resound through the silence.
Brahms: You might simply say "yes". / As ever, your poetry is execrable.

[Security Checkpoint] - [Floor 176]
(Enter Quarantined Floor 176) | Morrow: Right. This quarantine zone should be familiar. / You're approaching the quarantine zone. Stay alert. / The quarantine zone looks as welcoming as always. | Morrow: Quarantine zone sighted. Advance and clear. Watch you backs. / You're in the quarantine zone. Expect heavy resistance. / Watch your step in the quarantine zone. They know you're coming. / Should be plenty of data hereabouts. Let your servo-skull sniff it out, you grab it. | Brahms: I understand that this is the edge of the quarantine zone. Curious. / You are approaching the quarantine zone. I expect at least moderate success from you. |
HL-16-11-315 Hab (Dreyko) - Floor 176
(Deploy the Servo-skull) | Morrow: This is your scan zone. Deploy your servo-skull and get me some nice samples. / Right. Get your servo-skull out and get me those samples. / Scan zone reached. Deploy your servo-skull and be careful what you touch. | Morrow: Here we go. Deploy your servo-skull. She'll point you towards the scan targets. / Should be plenty of data hereabouts. Let your servo-skull sniff it out, you grab it. / Right, this is the place. Get your servo-skull out and get me that data on the Blight. | Brahms: A suitable harvest site, Kayex? / This appears a suitable location to gather data. |
Kayex: So shall it be. Free the servo-skull. Let knowledge be gathered. / Indeed, indeed. Let the servo-skull entreat the Omnissiah for enlightenment.

(Proceed to HL-16-11-318 Hab (Laranax)) | Sister Prine: I believe that comprises all the samples in this area. / Thank you, strike team. We now have sufficient samples. / Those samples should suffice, sergant-major. | Morrow: That should do it. Transferring the data to Magos Kharib for analysis. Make your way to Hab Block Laranax. / Looks good to me. Magos Kharib will pick over this while you make your way to Hab Laranax. / Right. I'll get this data to Magos Kharib for analysis. You get yourselves to Hab Laranax. | Kayex: We have learned all that we may. Magos Kharib has much to study. / Data is ours. It is sufficient for Magos Kharib to enshrine the shriving unguent. |
Morrow: What she said. Get moving. I'll get these samples to Magos Kharib. / You heard the lady. Move on to Hab Block Laranax.
Brahms: Whatever you think proper, Kayex. Operatives? Proceed to the next hab.
[Security Checkpoint]
(Proceed to HL-16-11-318 Hab (Laranax)) | Sister Prine: Vigilance lapsed, and now these citizens are dead. Emperor have mercy. / These citizens expected protection, and how was their trust repaid? / These deaths were avoidable. The hive Administratum had a duty to these souls. | Morrow: You should see this data. The blight's getting nastier. / Our Magos Biologis needs more time, but he's confident we'll get something. / Analysis is progressing nicely. Make sure you do the same. | Kayex: [Shudder of Pain] Unhappy machine spirits sing their loss all about you. / Unfunction rules this desolate quarter. Barbarism of the first order. / The hidden choir sings hymnals of pain. Such unfunction is there here. |
|
Brahms: Control yourself, Kayex. There is nothing we can do for them at this hour. / Please set an example to the strike team, Kayex. / These outbursts are scarcely proper. Contain them.
Kayex: I stand chastened, shamed, remorseful ... / My apolosies, shipmistress.
Morrow: Do you mind, excellency? I'm trying to run a mission here. / If we can keep the chatter to a minimum? Operational discipline, and all that.

(Proceed to HL-16-11-318 Hab (Laranax)) | Sister Prine: Blessed Emperor, let retribution find the despoilers of this, your domain. / Blessed Emperor, forgive us for failing these citizens. / Blessed Emperor, receive the souls of the righteous dead with favour. |
|
Kayex: Below ... This is how free range pre-servitors refuel? / That space below. A refueling station for pre-servitors, perhaps? / A feasting station for pre-servitors, be that below? |
|
Captain Wolfer: How hard can it be to execute a mere four Inquisitorial Lackeys? / If the squad leaders cannot bring me the strike team's heads, I'll settle for theirs. / Need I remind you that there are only four of them and hundreds of us? | Brahms: I've told you before: Don't call us pre-servitors. It's ... presumptuous. / I've warned you before about that ... unhappy term. We are not pre-servitors. / Kindly do not refer to us as pre-servitors.
Sister Prine: The interrogator's will is his own, excellency. I do but serve. / I cannot answer for the interrogator's desires ... excellency. | Morrow: I don't know why Zola wants to bother killing Wolfer. He'll give himself an aneurysm at this rate. / Old Wolfer's having a bad day. Breaks my heart. | Kayex: Apologies, shipmistress. I fear great age has made me forgetful ... and also made me forgetful it has. / I am distraught to have offended you, Oh Lady of the Stars.

Brahms: I shall expect full quarantine protocols to be in effect for the strike team's return. / Before I forget: full quarantine protocols to take effect immediately. / I trust you are ready to instigate a full quarantine for these operatives? |
Kayex: The scalpels and scourers are already prepared. / Oversee the process personally, shall I.
Morrow: I'm sure the team values your insight, excellency. / Can't speak to that, excellency. Maybe you should take it up with Rannick or Zola? They're always happy to talk. | Morrow: They really don't sound happy. / You've picked up a following. | Brahms: What is life without a little pain? / How thoughtful. / They will survive, I'm sure.

Morrow: That thing's ugly as ever. Magos Kharib's come through. Set your biotic probes running and deploy the shriving unguent. / There's the Phage Tree. Magos Kharib has come through with this "blessed unguent of shriving" or whatever. Set your biotic probes. / Set your biotic probes and let's get this filth purged ... assuming this unguent of shriving is all that Kharib says it is. | Brahms: Isn't that Phage Tree magnificent? ... In a repulsive sort of sense. / That must be the Phage Tree. It's even more repulsive than I imagined. |
Sister Prine: And it will be destroyed. Strike Team, your biotic probes are now capable of delivering the unguent of shriving. Deploy them. / Strike Team? Your biotic probes are now capable of delivering the blessed unguent of shriving. Deploy them and standby. / And(?*) we shall end it. Strike Team, deploy you biotic probes. Let the blessed unguent of shriving flow. | Kayex: Deploy your biotic probes. Let the unguent flow. Shriven shall this abhorrence be. / Your biotic probes now seethe with the unguent of shriving. Annoint the tree, you must. / Magos Biologis Kharib has worked a wonder. Deploy the probes. Let the shriving begin.

(Poison the Phage Tree) | Morrow: Right. Hang tight until the injection cycle is complete. Don't get killed. / Secure the area. This ain't done until the biotic probes have finished. | Captain Wolfer: Sweep them aside! They must not harm the Phage Tree! / Overwhelm them! The Phage Tree must not be destroyed! / Defend the Phage Tree! I don't care what it takes! | Kayex: Watch over the probes. Allow no heretic to offer harm. / The probes must be defended. Such is your purpose, operatives. |
[fix biotic probe] x2 | |||
[Probe jammed] Morrow: Got a jammed probe! Fix it! / Can't you see that probe's jammed? / Probe's jammed. Give it a thump, would you? / You gonna sort that probe or what? / The probe's stalled. Needs a bit of help. | Kayex: Your assistance is required! / Look to the probe! / Malfunction! Redress! / Stalled is the probe. Attend.
[Probe fixed] Morrow: Don't know what you did, but it's working now. / Looking good. Injection underway. / Probe's looking happier now. Back to the war. / We're back on track. Good work. / That did the trick. As you were. / Probe's up and running again. | Kayex: Watch over the probes. Allow no heretic to offer harm. / All is well. / Protect the probes, must you. Allow no interference. / Restored. Good.
(Wait To Confirm Flesh Manifestation Purge)
(Reach the Extraction Point) | Morrow: That's not a happy tree. Nicely done. Now get moving while you can. / If I were a betting man I'd say the Phage Tree isn't gone for good, but I'll settle for "today". / Phage Tree's had it, at least for now. That makes us done here ... at least for now. Get moving. | Morrow: Disgusting stuff, but it warms my heart all the same. The Phage Tree's bound to regrow, but it'll take time. Time to make your escape. / Revolting. Probably won't put it out of commission for long, but it'll buy us time. Get out before you're overrun! / Can't be certain that's the end of the Phage Tree, but it'll take a while to grow back at least. Show them a clean pair of heels. | Kayex: And lo! The corruption is unmade! |
Brahms: I think that is you cue to depart, team. / A definite success. Team? I suggest you leave. / I suggest you leave that place, team ... while you still can.

Sister Prine: We must not abandon the faithful! / No! These citizens need our aid. / We must not abandon the faithful! / There are yet faithful sheltering here. |

Kayex: I cannot say ... but doubt ever bubbles to the surface. / Deep go the roots. Hardy is its vile nature.

Morrow: Above my pay grade that, excellency. Why don't you speak to Rannick? / Sorry, but that ain't on my mission docket. You'll need to speak with Rannick. / Maybe take that up with Interrogator Rannick. I'm sure he'll have an opinion.
Brahms: I knew it. Good fortune has escaped me ever since I met Grendyl. / I feared as much. Still, there is a reason that vigilance is eternal. / That would be in line with my current fortunes, I suppose.

Taking it slow? / This whole place is in uproar. Looks like a good night's work! |
Old Version[]
Partial archive of the old version of Hab Dreyko's transcript. In the Path of Redemption update, Hab Dreyko would be revamped with new mission-directors replacing all the older dialogue, a new auspex mini-game (biotic probe), alongside various other minor environmental tweaks.
Hab Dreyko (Old Version)[]
Investigation // Hadron, Masozi, Morrow
A new form of the Blight has hit Transit Hub HL-16-11 hard. Scan the plague residue and maybe we'll get lucky.
Hab Dreyko is a quarantine zone and is normally sealed, as seen in other mission variants the Chasm Station map. In Morrow's mission briefing he notes that "the Dregs are all over the neighboring districts".
In the older version of Hab Dreyko mission, Hadron talks about finding the mutant strain's source (Pathogen-designate 'Strain Kappa 687453/Hereticus Omega') for the Council Biologis to study, Masozi rumours Rannick might be promoting research into a cure for the Blight, and Morrow talks of Dregs being all around the neighboring districts. In the new version of the mission, finding the source of the various, mutating plague strains is still a primary concern. Rannick is still withholding information from Brahms and other associates, Magos Kharib could be part of this 'Concil Biologis' studying the pox strains, and the Dregs consider Hab Laranax sacred ground, or at least Urmal's followers do.
The forsaken plights of the citizenry are put in the spotlight with the dialogue between Hestia and the nobility, however, the marketplace (now referred to as Burnout Bazaar) is no longer commented on by rejects. This is only worth mentioning since our operatives bring up the plague and famine effecting the area.
The Phage Tree, as it's now known, was only vaguely acknowledged by Hadron, as "the anomaly". The Seer's Beloved says "these growths are very old, and also very young." Indicating the cycle of rebirth common in Nurgle's wheelhouse.
There are many reasons why Inquisitor Grendyl has a personal interest in this investigation mission, as mentioned by Morrow. Any theories of the Inquisitor's interest being centered around the Phage Tree and it's ever-evolving blights.

Yeah. This is real welcoming. | Dark around here, ain't it? Let's bring some light and fire! | Light conditions are non-optimal. / Low light. Trivia[]
Nurgle is a god fond of growth, in a way, often manifesting as a parody of plants and gardens. A tree isn't an uncommon Nurgle design, from the feculent gnarlmaw in the table-top game, to the Gallows Tree in Warhammer Fantasy lore, often being a locus of Nurgle's influence. Regardless of what the tree is or could be, it's evidence that the barrier between the Warp and reality in Tertium has been growing thin.
