There are 7 mission types you can encounter when selecting available missions.

Games Lantern - Live Mission Board Tracker

Primary Objective[]

Assassination[]

Assassination
You have to make your way through the map, completing a series of objectives like redirecting a train to the final point, where you will encounter a boss as the final fight. During the boss fight, the boss will be continuously defended by enemies such as hordes and stronger enemy types. Currently the only boss in the game.

Disruption[]

Disruption
Cleanse the corruption to start machinery and advance to the next area and final area where you will use data interrogators to complete a series of tasks, leading you to extraction.

Espionage[]

Espionage
Typically you will do a data interrogator/auspex scan in the mid point, with the last objective being defending 3 data interrogators and putting them back online when needed. 

Investigation[]

Investigation
Equipped with scanners, you will make your way through the map using them to investigate objects in certain areas of the map. Once you scan the object with your tool and all the objects have been scanned in total, you will return to the Servo Skull and upload your data.

Repair[]

Repair
During your gameplay on this mode, some structures will either be damaged or disrupted and you will have to restore them to their full power. You do this by picking up objects such as fuel cells and placing them into slots that will be marked on your HUD. Once all slots are filled, the damaged component will start to regenerate and you will have to hold off a certain amount of horde waves as you wait for rescue.

Raid[]

Raid
Usually a mission where some form of resource like special ammunition is running low so you are sent to clean a location of enemies so the actual raid team can come and gather the resources.

Strike[]

Strike
In this mission type, specifically on the map Throneside you will restore power to the skylink (a bridge), then proceed to Aegis station. Once reaching Aegis station you will complete two objectives within the station after which your pilot will come to extract you.

Low-Intensity Gauntlet (Ventilation Purge) Visibility reduced. Wyrmwood agents report reduced Enemy concentration in the Mission Zone.
Sniper Gauntlet (Ventilation Purge)
Sniper Gauntlet (Ventilation Purge) +60% +59% Visibility reduced. Increased numbers of Snipers active in dropzone. Groups of snipers will spawn in after an event sound.
Hi-Intensity Sniper Gauntlet (Ventilation Purge)
Hi-Intensity Sniper Gauntlet (Ventilation Purge) Visibility reduced. Intel shows high Enemy concentration in the Mission Zone, along with increased Sniper presence. Heads down and mark your targets.
Low Intensity Gauntlet (Ventillation Purge)

Hunting grounds
Hunting Grounds The enemy have let loose a pack of hounds in the area. Rejects will have to fend off increased numbers of Pox Hounds. They will appear in waves following a different howling audio cue from normal dogs spawn. They have lower health but there are more of them at once. Spawns some normal Pox Hounds as well.
Hi-Intensity hunting grounds
Hi-Intensity Hunting Grounds Expect lots of heretics and lots of hounds. Don't use all your ammo at once.
Low-Intensity hunting grounds
Low-Intensity Hunting Grounds Multiple reports of Hounds active in the dropzone. On the plus side, you should have fewer heretics to handle.
Shock Troop Gauntlet
Shock Troop Gauntlet Increased Specialist deployments. Expect Specialist strike teams. Time to polish your target priority. Increased specialist deployments. Extra specialist strike teams.
Hi-Intensity Shock Troop Gauntlet
Hi-Intensity Shock Troop Gauntlet +110% +78% Wyrmwood agents report increased Enemy concentration in the Mission Zone, as well as increased Specialist deployments. Expect Specialist strike teams.
Low-Intensity Shock Troop Gauntlet
Low-Intensity Shock Troop Gauntlet Aero-recon suggests reduced Enemy concentration in the Mission Zone, but increased Specialist deployments. Expect Specialist strike teams.
Elite Resistance +72% +80% Enemies have more health (? or resistances?) and deal more damage.
Pox Gas icon
Pox Gas Higher concentrations of Moebian Pox Zetaphyte-13 have been identified in this area. Don't breath too deeply.

Rewards depend on difficulty, can be slightly higher or lower than stated.

Secondary Objectives[]

Secondary objective are items collected and carried through a mission. Scripture and Grimoire retrieval secondary objectives are mutually exclusive. Ignoring these secondary objectives has no effect on the mission.

Both scriptures and grimoires take up the utility item slot that Ammo Crates and Medpacks occupy. Grimoires will apply progressive corruption damage to the entire team that will cap at a certain threshold. Having both grimoires will increase the maximum corruption threshold.
