"The Moebian Domain is full of established worlds, burgeoning settlements and far-flung colonies."
The Moebian Domain is a a cluster of inhabited, Imperial systems across an expansive tract of space located in the galactic northwest of Segmentum Solar.
The Moebian Domain, with its capital world of Atoma Prime being a major exporter of Leman Russ Battle tanks. As a trade capital, Atoma likely has many shipping routes to nearby sectors in the Segmentum Solar, as well as other locations further afield, such as Agripinaa, Cadia, Armageddon, Graia, and even as far north as those in the Segmentum Obscurus.
Overview: The Moebian Domain[]
Manufacturing[]
As trade capital of the domain, Atoma Prime's primary industry and export is their Leman Russ tank manufactorums. As such, the armoured Moebian Regiments of the Astra Militarum are hugely reliant on Atoma's manufactorums.
The average Moebian Lasmen will proudly boast that the tanks made on Atoma are blessed by the Emperor himself, and this is true. The tanks produced on Atoma have superior armour to those produced elsewhere due to a unique metal known as Moebian Steel.
Atoma is home to a special blend of minerals, known as Moebian Iron, which is smelted into the Moebian Steel, resulting in armour than is stronger, more durable compared to standard armours. This unique metal alloy and it's production process has attracted the best craftsmen from around the Moebian Domain and even piqued the interest of Mechanicus members from as far afield as Forge World Metalica.
(There was an unspecified time in the Imperium's history, the Moebian Domain was largely supplied by Forge World Obscurus, though those days are long past. (Obscurus Mk Ie Psykana Collar) This could be vaguely refering to any time before the Moebian Domain's warp storm isolation or prior to the formation of the Great Rift. To speculate, this could be reference the post-heresy era of M32 when Crucis ruled the Moebian Domain as an interim government as Atoma Prime recovered from the Horus Heresy, eventually returning to full production capabilities in M33.)
Culture[]
Being between the Eye of Terror and Terra, some of the Cadian diaspora seem to have washed up in the Moebian Domain. It isn't specified whether this was true prior to the fall of Cadia, as well.
- Honour Duels - "Despite attempts by the authorities to crack down on them, Honour Duels remain a popular - if deadly - method of settling disputes throughout the Moebian Domain." (Character creation - Veteran - Defining Moment)
- "The Moedian Domain is awash with old Cadian battlegear. History does not record why." (Munitorum Psyker Battledress (Bone Sands))
Moebian Proverbs[]
- "An Ork's chance on Armageddon" Moebian Proverb, referring to someone whose fortunes have turned sour. (Armageddon Mk IIIe Pot Helm)
- "Earn the loyalty of an Ogryn, and long life shall be yours." - Moebian Proverb (Bodyguard Cap (Karst-Skin Camo, XXXXL))
Currency[]
The currency assumed to be used across the Moebian Domain are Moebian Aquilas.
Fringe War[]
The myriad of xenos threats from the surrounding wilderness space have pressured the Moebian Domain's fringes since its inception. For generations, the ordinary inhabitants of the Moebian Domain have lived in the shadow of the M41 Fringe War. The rulers of the Domain see it fit to keep the general population ignorant of any details of the enemies faced or details of the many campaigns in the tumultuous Fringe Regions.
The Fringe Wars of M35 saw the Moebian Domain almost collapse as an unspecified xenos host pushed into the Moebian core. It took the intercession of an unspecified Imperial force to fragment the threat from the Fringes, saving the Moebian Domain from certain destruction.
In M41, the Moebian Fringe Region activity would escalate to a threat level not seen since M35, nearly 5,000 years prior. These Fringe Wars of M41 would continue to escalate into the early early Era Indomitus. The events of Warhammer 40,000: Darktide take place during the early Plague Wars, in regard to the larger Warhammer: 40,000 timeline.
Warp Storm Isolation[]
"In recent years, however, destructive warp storms of magnitudes never before known to its shipmasters have more or less isolated the Moebian Domain. No word from the wider Imperium has been heard since. Ships that brave the warp storms' depths vanish, and messages thrust by the planet's psykers into the warp are swallowed with no suggestion they will ever reach anyone. For all the people of the Moebian Domain know, they are alone." (Darktide: The Board Game rulebook pg. 23)
At some point, the Moebian Domain became isolated from the rest of the Imperium by a warp storm. Its mostly cut off from the rest of the Imperium limiting any external aid, such as supplies and troops, are all limited do to these local warp storm. This also effects astropathic messages sent through the Warp, which are uncertain even at the best of times.
Either because of the Great Rift's opening or due simply further compounding the issue of isolation, the Era Indomitus is rife with uncertain during warp travel and astropathic messages. This has forced the domain into self reliance and the output of the various core worlds are the foundation of the domain's survival against the rising Darktide pressing its borders. Atoma Prime is the linchpin supplying these ongoing Fringe Wars that threaten to make its way into the Moebian core.
The only known external aid to arrive so far has been Inquisitor Grendyl's warband, seemingly in response to the uprising and war on Atoma Prime. Having plied the turbulent Warp currents surrounding the Moebian Domain, Shipmistress Brahms is seasoned in the navigating Warp space along the edges of the Astronomicon's light. She has likely done so well before well before the opening of the Great Rift. Her skills were needed to successfully transport Grendyl's warband to the Moebian Domain.
Known Worlds[]
"The Moebian Domain is full of established worlds, burgeoning settlements and far-flung colonies." It's likely that this expansive tract of space has many star systems and subsectors, with Atoma being the most prominent as the capital world and the sector's trading hub.
The Moebian Domain contains several core worlds, with the foremost being Atoma Prime the seat of power for the ruling Lord Moebian and primary manufacturing hub of the domain as a whole. The Sector Lord, refering to as Lord Moebian for this sector, is Lord Margrave and is the 13th member of his house to hold the office since the Margraves seized power in M36. The seven core worlds are chosen from in the character creation window. There are many additional unnamed vassal worlds, colonies, and outposts not mentioned, many of which being Jungle Worlds, Feral Worlds, and Death Worlds along the domain's fringes.
The sectors and subsectors of the Moebian Domain aren't clearly specified and might be shifting. Many are only mentioned once so information is limited and vague.
- The galactic north of the Domain is dotted with feral worlds - the site of constant battles to hold back the Darktide and as such considered a part of the Fringe Wars. (Character creation)
- "So tainted is the air on nearly every inhabited planet within the Moebian Domain that even the hardiest individuals would soon sicken without a rebreather to filter out the worst of the atmosphere's toxins." (Aurum Pattern Rebreather and Vox-Grill Amplifier).
Core Worlds[]
The primary regional distinctions of a Moebian world tends to be refer to whether they are a core-world or are along the domain's fringes. Core-worlds, if not all part of a single system, are a group of clustered systems key to the Moebian Domain's stability.
It's possible the 'core-worlds' are their own local group, but this could also be a designation given to a world based on their contribution to the domain's overall stability. Whether it be military/strategic significance, economic, or bastions of Imperium sovereignty/order, all work together to keep Moebian space safe, stable, and productive. Core-worlds designate key importance to the Moebian Domain as a whole.

Atoma Prime |
| |
Crucis | The world seems to play a supporting role in the governing of the Moebian Domain, likely through the world of Crucis being the Ecclesiarchy's (assumed) seat of power in the domain. Crucis also had administrative authority over the Domain in M31-M32, while Atoma recovered from the aftermath of the Horus Heresy. | |
Branx Magna | Granted status, from vassal to part of the Moebian Domain in M38. Its noble household is known as Van Sparzi. | |
Branx Minor | ? | A Branx world with multiple mining moons and Adeptus Mechanicus forges. |
Rocyria | Reclaimed as part of the Moebian Domain around sometime around M43. "The dress uniform of Moebian regiments raised from the agri-world of Rocyria. Thanks to its muted palette, it is sometimes pressed into service as woodland camouflage – which is just as well, for the Rocyrians tend to be the poorest of the Moebian Guard, oftens seen as poor cousins to their comrades from Atoma or Branx Magna." (Rocyrian Parade) | |
Mornax | Vassalized in M36, Granted status as part of the Moebian Domain in M38. | |
Pavane | Charted and claimed as part of the domain in early M41. | |
Incron | Reclaimed in M39 and made part of the domain. The battlefleet navy was moved here from Atoma Prime for unspecified reasons in M39. Many floating Hive cities dot the planets vast oceans. The Moebian 21st were stationed here for an extensive and unknown amount of time. |
Moebian Fringe Regions[]
The Fringe Regions are unstable border territories between the core worlds of the Moebian Domain and the Moebian Fringe. Death worlds make up the majority of the Fringe worlds all across the Moebian Domain's borders.
There is an assortment of vassal worlds under Moebian control in the Fringe Regions, but they are generally under continuous threat from the Darktide; unnamed and unnumbered Xenos, heretic, and Chaos threats. The Fringes, as these border territories of wilderness space are called, are dangerous and largely uninhabitable worlds.
The galactic North of the Moebian Domain has many jungle and feral worlds in its Fringe Regions. The campaign to pacify the galactic western front of the M41 Fringe Wars are generally seen as a success.
Moebian Fringe Worlds[]
Worlds controlled by the Moebian Domain that are located in the Moebian Fringe Region.

Messelina Gloriana |
| |
Komaris | ? | Reclaimed by Imperium during the Great Crusade, it was the oldest known Imperial Bastion of the Fringe Region. Now it is a fallen world. It likely fell during the recent fringe incursions of M41. Defense of the Komaris Belt Fortifications would assumedly be fought somewhere near this planet as xenos and chaos press the Moebian Domain's borders. (Character creation) Komaris was valued for both practical and symbolic reason, being the oldest bastion against the Darktide. There is a seeming holiday refered to as the Komaris Memorial Feast. ("Duty" Warden Cowl) |
Infidus Brim | ? | Infidus Brim is a notable vassal world of the Moebian Domain located within the Moebian Fringe Regions. In recent years, Imperial control of the world has been contested. At least 13 wars against heretics wrestling for control of the Fringe World have occurred since the fall of Komaris. |
Non-Moebian Fringe Worlds[]
Worlds not controlled by the Moebian Domain that are located in the Moebian Fringes.
Name | World | Information |
---|---|---|
Nox Alpha | ? | The planet of Nox Alpha is a Death World of particular military focus for the Fringe Campaign. It is the location of where the Moebian 6th's schism and fall to nurglish corruption occurred. The air of Nox Alpha is many times more deadly than the heavily-polluted air of the 6th's home, Atoma Prime. No rebreather would result in a condition referred to as 'Lungers' Cough', other results include truly gruesome deaths. The 6th fought in perpetual darkness of the Tenebrus, delved into the horrors hidden within the Grundrak forest, and through the deadly red mists of the storm-riven, equatorial Hellus region. The Thradium Stronghold within the Hellus region was sieged by the Moebian 6th. |
Nox Secundus | ? | A world scoured by 8 Moebian Battlegroups, including the Moebian 6th, 9th, and 12th, during the Nox Wars. Enormous ferro-tigers stalk the planet's inhospitable ferrous plains. (Cleaver (Noxian Ferro-Tiger)) |
Other Fringe Worlds[]
Worlds in the Moebian Fringe of unknown or unspecified control.
Name | World | Information |
---|---|---|
Phade | ? | A war-torn death world in the Moebian Fringe. Home to a deadly toxvenom plant. (Weapon camo (Phade Toxvenom)) |
Caara | ? | The red moon Caara was the location of a Fringe War battle where many heretics were slain. (Infantry Autogun (Purgation fields Camo)) |
Unspecified Worlds and Locations[]
Unknown worlds that are likely Fringe Worlds.
- Komlar - A world, city, or other location where chaos was fought. It could be speculated to be one of many worlds in the Fringe Regions. An Ogryn unit held a hill for three days against 'spikey' heretics, likely being a key to the battle's (assumed) success. (Ogryn Bodyguard personality intro)
- Karnas(?*) - Reclaimed by Imperium during the Great Crusade. (Luetin09 Deep Dive)
Unknown locations 1 - Plausibly in the Moebian space or amongst the Moebian Fringes. (Due to vague contextual implication but location isn't explicitly stated)
- Syndian Reach - A backwater collection of outposts and way stations. Torveth, The Butcher of the Syndian Reach, made a name for himself in the fighting pits and arenas there.
- Adraelus - Known for its ash-fields. It is located in the Nocturnus Straits, a hazardous environment created by decades of relentless war. Nameless horror are faced amongst the skeletal ruins of in the shadow of a once fledgling city. It is now a killing field, where reluctant Moebian regiments face nameless horrors amidst skeletal ruins. (Weapon Camo - Ash Ranger Camo)

- Haxorn - The world of Haxorn has harsh winters, which blanket the irradiated plains, turned red by centuries of industry. Haxorn has been defended many times in its long history, most recently by the Moebian 13th, who successfully repelled an Ork invasion during a vicious month of fighting. (Combat Axe (Redscar Thaw))
- Aethos - A grotesquely hot, humid and unfathomably dangerous jungle world where the Moebian 83rd, 441st and 515th regiments took part in the infamous Aethos campaign. (Combat Sword (Adamantine Inferno))
- Oberwald - A far-flung agri-system that was reclaimed (by the Imperium) in M40. (Weapon Camo - Steinvast Sedge)

- Corasis - A Professional Veteran reject of Moebian 100th Steepleguard fought in the trenches of Corasis for 20 years. (Tertium Tales: Training Day)
Unknown locations 2 - Plausibly in the Moebian Domain. These worlds are locations of conflicts involving multiple Astra Militarum regiments, often times very obscure regiments, fighting alongside Moebian regiments. Some worlds speculatively have connections (usually in name alone) to existing worlds/systems in the established lore, often time these are very obscure worlds/locations. Making those ones less likely to be in the Moebian Domain.
- Konald - A shroud world where a combined battle group of Cadian, Landrian and Moebian regiments brought about the downfall of a notorious renegade warlord, ending a three-year campaign. (Cleaver (Konald Nightshroud))

- Phanox - This camo pattern was last seen in action on the decimated world of Phanox, where eight Moebian regiments and six Hektaon regiments did battle with the Knights of Blood Chaos renegades. Though the renegades were driven off, such was the destruction wreaked that Phanox is now designated a dead world. (Combat Sword (Phanox Ash-Devil))
- Vakon Alpha - Location of a triple-fronted battle group comprising Moebian, Noctan and Valhallan regiments, the Vakonin Winter camo designation was instrumental in delivering victory amidst the vast thornwood forests of Vakon Alpha. (Weapon Skin (Vakonin Winter)) Departmento Munitorum Designation: 82616/c was a short-lived camo pattern, believed unlucky after a disastrous winter campaign in the dead forests of Vakon Alpha. The planet was later retaken, the successful Astra Militarum regiments donning a revised version, dubbed Vakonin Winter. (Weapon Skin (Redwood Blizzard))
- Hyrion - Noted for its combat efficacy on the desert world of Hyrion, Hyrion Dunescape pattern camo has long been a favourite of numerous abhuman regiments, many of whom were liberated during the campaign from the predations of the hated Drukhari. (Hyrion Dunescape)
- Megiddio Septima: A location of a war where the Moebian 55th fought alongside the 6th Pyran Dragoons against Aeldari. (Mechrite Scourge Camo)

Upon their return, all but the most senior officers were mind-wiped… (Weapon Skin (Scourgesplinter Camo))
- Elnath - The scant survivors of the Battle for Elnath – a jungle engagement of unimaginable horrors – were awarded wargear bearing this artificer pattern. Many of the survivors later succumbed to madness or even corruption, their names scrubbed from Imperial records, and their wargear thought lost. (Elnath Honorus) This camo pattern was most famously utilized by the Astra Militarum in the hellish jungles of Elnath, where fully eight regiments held out against marauding Chaos Space Marines for several weeks. After being relieved by a Salamanders Space Marine strikeforce, most of the Militarum soldiers were mind-wiped, and most of their gear destroyed… (Elnath Guerilla)

Moebian Domain History (Luetin09 transcript)[]
This section is a transcript of Luetin09 exclusive deep-dive on lore provided by Fatshark, a form of promo content released June 1, 2022 (coinciding with the Rejects will Rise trailer) prior to the Nov 30th PC release of Darktide that year. Since the beta and release, all in-game info lines up, nothing is disproved. The only minor inconsistency is the name of the current ruling Lord Margrave was swapped with the sister's name, when compared to in-game item descriptions.
Transcribed all information relating directly to the Moebian Domain and Darktide setting, the majority of which hasn't appeared in too often in-game, aside from a few important recent events of M41 and Tertium stuff in M35. Subjects found solely from this video are sometimes marked with a "(?*)" to indicate that the closed-caption spellings of the subject/name could be proven incorrect in the future (such as Karnas, Yannis Barquette, or Anselm Margrave). One inconsistency with in-game content is about Constant Margrave - who is sister to Lord Margrave - according to in-game files for unreleased penance sets.

Moebian Domain History |

Intro[](00:00) "This video today is brought to you by Fatshark and Darktide." (2:06) "Now I am used to game previews after a decade of doing this, but what I didn’t anticipate was Fatshark specifically asking me to do a deep dive into the background of the world so early on and so today I’m very please to be able to present to you a first glimpse into that background of Darktide. And offer you some exclusive insights into the world forged by the quite legendary Warhammer 40,000 author, Dan Abnett. Until now Darktide has only been available to wishlist but from today you can pre-order the game on Steam. So please go and check the link directly below this video to find out all the details about what aesthetic extras are included at launch. Same day as rejects will rise trailer is released." ... (4:00) ... "I think the purpose of enabling me to speak about the background is to try and bridge that gap between the mechanical experience of gameplay and the immersive experience of the background." ... The Moebian Domain / Stellar Exodus[](18:04) ... "During the early stellar exodus, is when the worlds of the Moebian Domain, including what would eventually be designated as Atoma Prime, are believed to have been colonized. This could have been as early as M15, but of course, record of this are sketchy at best. The Moebian Domain is in a cluster of now inhabited systems in the galactic north-west of Segmentum Solar." ... M15-M31 DAOT / Age of Strife[](23:05) ... "For the worlds of the Moebian Domain though, they weathered the storm well. Worlds that were lost in this time may contain archeological remains but likely that is all. While presumed to be 'dead worlds', such places are in fact the location of many Mechanicus expeditions who dig down to discover lost archaeo-tech from the Dark Age of Technology. The world of Atoma was situated to best weather the tempest of the Age of Strife. It emerges from this time in a relatively strong position, both in terms of civilian citizen strength and its industrial capacity. It continues to build on this by developing military hardware and assets to protect from any further threats. Remembering that the leadership at this point in time believes themselves to be entirely independent and to be self-reliant, in all respects." ... M31 The Great Crusade[](27:03) ... "Thankfully for the worlds of the Moebian Domain, they did not require the harsh subjugation or re-education so commonly seen throughout the Great Crusade. It was just as common that Imperial Forces would arrive to systems that had been isolated for millennia and where reunification into a wider Imperium would, in fact, be welcomed gladly. Undoubtedly, it was a profound shock to discover that humanity still existed among the stars. But for many extremely isolated worlds who had suffered their fair shares of xenos invasions over the years, the sight and prospect of being bolstered and supported by the quite obviously powerful forces of this Emperor from Terra were a welcome relief. For the Noble Aristocracy that ruled at this time, reintegration with the wider galactic human civilization was obviously a beneficial move and so the Moebian Domain would become part of the nascent Imperium. As was often the case when a system or world rejoined the galactic civilization of the Imperium willingly, they were allowed to retain their own local governorship. As this was usually in the interest of all concerned. The planet of Atoma would be the first planet *liberated*, if you will, by the Great Crusade and was assessed to be a significant asset due to its functioning and highly productive industrial factorums. Consequently, Atoma is immediately tasked with producing materials to support the ongoing efforts of the crusade. Again, a common occurrence to ensue that stable supply chains for ongoing needs of the expeditionary fleets during this time. Another world, Crucis, is discovered nearby and liberated also. In this instance, its leadership is then required to cede authority to the more powerful world of Atoma, because it is now a system capital world. Atoma is retitled Atoma Prime. The Imperial Administrators create the position of first Lord or Lady Moebian to effectively govern the system. On the fringe worlds of the Moebian domain, there have always been ongoing Xenos troubles. These are brutally and quickly crushed by the crusade forces, who lead campaign of suppression, as was typical of the (Great Crusade's) expeditionary fleets. Many Xenos on these outer planets are entirely exterminated, others are heavily suppressed to the point they represent minimal to no threat. The planets of Komaris, Karnas(?*), and Infidus Brim are brought back under the stewardship of Atoma Prime, as a result. As the situation within the Moebian Domain has now stabilized, the Crusade fleet moves on, leaving any residual pacification on fringe worlds in the system to be handled by garrisoned forces and the newly established leadership." ... M31 Horus Heresy[](30:33) ... "Thankfully, for the worlds of the Moebian Domain, they remain profoundly loyalist from the outset of the Heresy. It continues to supply and support loyalist efforts throughout the Heresy and into the post-Heresy period. Like so many worlds though, they do not escape unscathed and consequently an interim government is established on the world of Crucis to allow Atoma Prime to be restored to a position of stability and productivity, once again. At this time a major domain navy battlefleet depot is established at Crucis. M32 Recovery[](31:04) Entering M32, Atoma Prime is still recovering from the aftermath of the Heresy and is still not as full production output. The war continuing on the fringe of the Moebian Domain has not abated and has become a persistent annoyance requiring a now permanent deployment of military assets to now contain it. Periodically the situation flares in intensity and could be classified as a war. The world of Komaris remains the primary Imperial bastion of the fringe region. Finally, toward the later period of M32 Crucis passes its administrative powers back to Atoma Prime peacefully and Atoma Prime is restored to its position of capital world. Additionally, the navy depot of Crucis is moved back to Atoma Prime. M33-M35 Minimal Records[](31:52) Details about the 2000 year period from M33 to M35 have been, for reasons unknown, heavily redacted. Including the nature of the Xenos threat on the fringes, which now starts to become a far more serious threat. In the early time of this period, there are minor disturbances as there might be upon many worlds of the Imperium. Additionally some small dynastic civil wars occur among the nobility, inter-hive, and guild wars. Occasionally, what are referred to generically as just "Xenos", spark conflicts on the fringe region and require a concerted effort to pacify the area. Somewhere around M34, the world of Rocyria is reclaimed as part of the Moebian Domain. It is unclear and unspecified as to whether it had been previously, or what specifically occurred to return it to Imperial control. Around this same time, a major Xenos war is believed to have occurred on the fringe region and a period of extensive warfare is required to keep it suppressed. M35 Instability, Barquette's Rise, & Tertium's Founding[](32:57) At the turn of M35, the wars on the fringe again flare. This time, with what's noted as a considerable push into the core space of the Moebian Domain. Consequently, an Imperial force is said to have arrived to bolster forces on the front lines of the Fringe War, but the nature of this force, including its origin is unspecified, including as to who ordered it. As a result though, of this additional military power, the Xenos threat is fragmented and driven back once again. This period though appears to also have caused some destabilization in the Moebian Domain. Records indicate a rumbling civil war. The fact that this is not clarified suggests it could have been mere civilian disturbances of discontent or something more significant. However, it's notable that it's recorded that a victorious alliance now enters as the rulers of Atoma Prime. A new Leader, Yannis (Janice?*) Barquette is elected as Lord Moebian. We have no details as to just what occurred here. It's entirely possible that due to the ongoing Fringe War and the lack of military power upon core worlds, a small coup took place upon among the noble houses of a hive, such things are not unheard of. This would align with talk of "civil war" and "new alliances" being put into power. This though is mere speculation, as the details are either missing or redacted that would give us further clarification. The important thing to note is that this period is one of apparently serious instability. In the latter period of M35, the world of Infidus Brim is also noted as having been reclaimed as a vassal world of the Moebian Domain and the apparently "Victorious Alliance" as it's referred to expands and is now rebuilding a Hive City cluster, forming what will become the vast sprawling prime world hive-city of Tertium. The largest impact of note during this time period is upon the environment of Atoma Prime. The continual industrial output, war, and hive sprawl has caused a significant impact of the ecological biosphere. As is the case with many hive worlds, over time the massive amounts of pollution can end up causing a total ecological collapse and this is why many hive worlds end up as essentially dead worlds apart from their vast hive cities. Which then steadily require considerable support in the form of technology, off-world imports, and resources that no longer available from the natural resources of a world. So, suspiciously, details of this entire 2000 year period are very sketchy, at best. But what appears to occur based purely on fragmented information available is that the Fringe Wars become more severe for reasons unspecified, hive cities upon Atoma use this to leverage political instability and force a power grab, and then upon consolidating their power, this cluster of "Victorious Alliances" began expansion projects that further connect the supercluster of hive cities upon Atoma Prime and begin the final stages of them becoming one one massive singular hive city conurbation. M36 Expansion[](36:00) The expansion of the cluster of hive cities continues. This leads to them eventually becoming the foundational structure that evolves into the mammoth hive city, now named Tertium. This is not an unheard process upon a Hive World. Some hive city planets, like for example Necromunda, have multiple hive city clusters. Upon Necromunda the primary city cluster is known as the Palatine Cluster. It's centered around a Hive which used to be known as Palatine, it's now titled Primus. Sometimes Hive cities will be constructed upon so consistently that they will link together and this is what appears to have occurred Atoma Prime. This would explain why, when the world viewed from orbit, Tertium appears to unbelievably massive, because it is. The unfortunate negative of this seemingly exponential period of expansion was the continued damage to the ecology of the planet. It had already suffered significantly in previous millennia but the massive scale of construction and industrial output pushes the planet into total ecological collapse now. Atoma Prime is a dust wasteland, not dissimilarly to Necromunda. Consequently, any remaining populations outside of the hive city now merge and Tertium Hive becomes the singular population center for the planet. The noble dynastic rivalry continues, as it always does, within the highest spires of a Hive World and in M36 House Margrave replaces Barquette as the ruling house following yet another period of instability. One might refer to it as a civil war, but records again are unclear as to just how this unseating of the former Lord Moebian took place. Now one Anselm(?*) Margrave is declared Lord Moebian. However it took place, the transfer of power was strong enough that it remains stable from here to the present time in M41 where House Margrave continued to rule over the system from Atoma Prime. The world known as Mornax is recorded as being brought now into the Moebian Domain, in this period, as another vassal world. M37-M41 Charting Time[](38:15) In the next few thousand years the domain enters a period of stability and calm. There are no records of any major incident or problem, nor do the Xenos Fringe Wars appear to have flared, as they may have done in the past. We might wish to consider that things are in fact suspiciously quiet. There is no information though which exists to point to any reason or cause for immediate concern. Some straightforward, historical data entries occur during this quite significant period of time though. M38, the worlds of Mornax and Branx Magna are officially granted status as part of the Moebian Domain. In the latter part of M39, the world known as Incron is reclaimed and also becomes part of the domain. The battlefleet navy depot is relocated here for unspecified reasons. In the early parts of M41, the world of Pavane is charted and claimed as part of the domain. The details from this time are again, suspiciously matter-of-fact and brief but reasons to why entirely unclear. M41 The Calm Before the Storm[](39:15) As we approach the current period of time within the Imperium, the Moebian Domain and Atoma Prime seem a stable and well managed system. There has been steady growth since M35 and the system now comprises seven main worlds, the capital Atoma Prime with it's massive hive city of Tertium, Crucis has been designated as a Shrine World, and then its five other worlds include Incron, Rocyria, Branx Magna, Pavane, and Mournax. Several Vassal worlds exist, as well, the most notable being Infidus Brim. Branx Magna has now expanded it's industrial output and population to a level that it now even rivals Atoma Prime in terms of its gross product and industrial importance within the system. Its ruling noble household is know as Van Sparzi. On Atoma Prime itself, Constant Margrave becomes the Lord Moebian, the 13th of the family line to hold the office and rule the Moebian Domain. Lady Margrave, his sister, while officially subservient to her brother, also holds some power within the domain. At this time now, there is significant concern that the Fringe Wars, which had marked the earlier period over the past 10,000 years, have now started to be reported again with increasing regularity in M41. The last notable reference to these incidents was, in fact, some 5000 years prior, but suddenly, without much concrete information as to why, the Fringe has become, once again, unstable. Perhaps, due to the time period being closer to the current age of the Imperium and records being therefore more reliable and accurate, a specific world is noted within this fringe conflict for the first time. The planet of Nox Alpha, a non-domain and non-vassal world is listed as being of particular military focus for the Fringe Campaign. No additional information is currently made available as to the status of the Moebian Domain or that of it's system worlds, until now." ... (42:10) ... "...in the case of Tertium it's (population) said to be 90 billion citizens, roughly speaking." -End Luetin09 transcript |
