Reaper[]
The Reaper is an intimidating Ogryn enemy armed with a twin-linked heavy stubber not dissimilar from the ones usable by Ogryn Rejects. Reapers essentially act as significantly more resilient gunner enemies and are almost always encountered alongside Dreg Gunners or Scab Gunners in ranged enemy patrols, becoming increasingly common as the difficulty increases from Sedition to Damnation.
Reapers compensate for their inability to use cover with their large health pool, greater than that of any other non-Monstrosity enemy in the game - including Bulwarks and Crushers. They are significantly harder to stagger than Gunners and are not knocked back by the vast majority of attacks, and even heavy attacks should be aimed at the head for reliable staggers and efficient kills.
In terms of behaviour, Reapers simply move until they have a line of sight to the first available target and begin bracing their weapon to unleash a volley of suppressing bullets. Unlike gunners, they don't always remain static in place until their volley is finished but sometimes will chase the target around walls and walk forward. They will typically remain still while reloading, never seeking to move to cover. They have a push attack similar to the Scab Gunner if an enemy remains close to it for too long without staggering it.
Combat[]
- Plasma Guns and Boltguns make quick work of Reapers, especially when aimed at the head.
- The Psyker Psykinetic's Brain Burst is quite effective in whittling down their health but is unlikely to be an instant kill, especially on Damnation difficulty. Empowered Psionics is the most practical way of delivering this burst of damage in good time.
- Surge Staves' secondary fire can interrupt a Reaper from using its attacks, likely stalling its nearby allies at the same time.
- Ogryn Boxes and Rocks are very effective in killing and knocking back Reapers.
- Zealots can kill Reapers very efficiently with weapons such as Thunder Hammers and can stagger them reliably with Crushers if desired.
