Operates Sire Melk's Requisitorium in the Mourningstar's hub area.

Sire Darius Melk the Fourteenth, Lord of the Quartervast, Holder of the Endless March, Warden of the Crux Mortem, Thrice Decorated for Bravery by Lord Dolmar Martialis, and scion of House Straxamus is ex-Administratum and an unscrupulous, blue-blooded noble.

Sire Melk is an Inquisitorial acolyte in the service of Inquisitor Grendyl, in an administrative role of spies and data analysis. He prefers dealing with auric-class operatives whom he favours above upstart rejects. Zola introduces Sire Darius Melk as being responsible for "... collating and analysing reports from recon teams, Wyrmwood agents and loyal citizens who risk their lives delivering vital intelligence. Melk identifies priority targets, supply lines and transitory weaknesses in the traitor war machine."

In Tertium Vox Intercept I, Melk refers to Morrow as "that Armageddon feral hog" and personally fond of him, but shows deference when speaking to his face. He isn't personally fond of Masozi either, citing that she doesn't respect protocol. Although his haughty arrogance makes him look down and be derisive of nearly everyone that don't offer him an opportunity for personal gain. He seems keen becoming an associate of Hallowette due to their shared interest in shameless greed and underhanded activities.

Melk seems to have seen military combat at some point in his younger years, such as a nasty skirmish on Cymballa V. (Carnival - Warrens) He does occasionally let his pompousness fall to the wayside and cheers on Rejects in the heat of the moment. (Carnival - Mercantile)

Sefoni mentions that Melk is using teams to search for "something" in Tertium. What it could be is unknown and Grendyl may or may not be aware of Melk's secret pursuit.

The Rogue Trader[]

During Lady Alice's various unauthorized, personal missions, using Inquisitorial assets for primarily personal profit, rejects steal various valuable pieces of tech from the traitors, of which Alice plans to sell for personal profit. Melk often times joins in on assisting the missions for a percentage of the profits, at first bluffing he will notify the Inquisitor of this and then requesting a bribe for 'looking the other way' while these missions occur. In the end, these missions disrupt heretic forces in one way or another.

Sire Melk is also a hoping to arrange an audience with Shipmistress Brahms through Lady Alice. House Brahms is a strong and wealthy Rogue Trader House and Melk hopes to weasel his way into their graces for personal gain. Lady Alice conveys Shipmistress Brahms response to him, being "She said she didn't have time for social climbers. Her exact words. Then she said something about an asteroid." A resounding 'no', but Melk is undeterred still hoping to work his way into their circle.

Player Interactions[]

Melk's dialogue towards the player is either amicable or derisive, depending on the character's personality. He is amicable towards the Veteran Professional, Ogryn Brawler, Psyker Loner, and Zealot Agitator.

The male Zealot Judge personality states Melk has told him that his High Gothic needs work and seems keen for more favored operatives to put in a good word for him. The Brawler Ogryn isn't fond of Melk, stating that he wouldn't share his rashuns' with him.

Investigation of the Traitor Noble House[]

Adepts-working-cutscene-lvl-21

Inquisitorial Adepts at work on the Mourningstar.

In Tertium Vox Intercept I, Melk appears to know the identity of the traitor amongst the major noble houses of Atoma who has been assisting the heretics in accessing Archivum Sycorax. This unknown traitor likely aided the heretics in gaining access to the "Throneside" Archivum Comms-Plex 154/2f as well as wiping a portion of the records for Flow Control Hub Delta-12, which aided in the spread of the pox.

Melk also states "I wanted to do this cleanly. The traditional honorable way." when asked by a vox-worker if Grendyl should be notified of the noble traitor's identity. Is Melk's house native to Atoma? Does House Straxamus have some kind of relation, past, or debt to the traitor house or rogue noble?

One would assume he has some kind of respect or loyalty to make him consider thinking twice about not informing an Inquisitor about such important information. We can only assume it's one of the major Houses, Barquette or Margrave, with our current limited info.

  • Sire Melk: Oh, most excellent. I am in your debt.
  • Hallowette: She said she didn't have time for social climbers. Her exact words. Then she said something about an asteroid.
  • Sire Melk: Ah.. perhaps it will wait.
  • Hallowette: [Cough to Clear Throat] Lord Melk? That ... special consignment just arrived for you.
  • Sire Melk: Really woman ... Not over an open channel! ... I mean, thank you. I'll be along presently.

Morrow[]

  • Morrow: It's pretty clear that there's more going on down there than we thought, but I don't want to hear anyone spreading rumours.
  • Sire Melk: Indeed not! The very idea is literally unthinkable. [Sotto] That said, I have my concerns.
  • Morrow: It's pretty clear that there's more going on down there than we thought, but I don't want to hear anyone spreading rumours.
  • Sire Melk: Indeed not! The very idea is literally unthinkable. [Sotto] That said, I have my concerns.
  • Morrow: Lord Melk? I'm hearing our Flight Lieutenant's wanting to discuss protocol with you.
  • Sire Melk: Is that so? Well, protocol is a duty gladly shared... even with those who mock its importance.
  • Sire Melk: Sergeant Major? We really should speak about these performance reviews for your operatives. They are not encouraging.
  • Morrow: They still alive? Then the rest doesn't matter.
  • Morrow: Things are picking up around here, so Lord Melk will be advising on missions. Don't give him any lip, got it?
  • Sire Melk: Grateful for your support though I am, I'm quite capable of handling these ruffians.
  • Morrow: I guess we'll find out.

Sister Prine[]

  • Sire Melk: I hear you're interested in Atoman politics?
  • Sister Prine: I find them abhorrent, but necessary.
  • Sire Melk: Should you wander the ship take a bodyguard with you at all times.
  • Sister Prine: I can look after myself.
  • Sire Melk: Do not grow attached to the rejects. They won't be here long.
  • Sister Prine: All the more reason to show them some kindness.
  • Sire Melk: I hear we lost another strike team.
  • Sister Prine: We lost a good deal more than that.
  • Sister Prine: I wish I could join the strike teams.
  • Sire Melk: That is not advisable. You're worth more to the cause precisely where you are.
  • Sire Melk: Should you ever need to draw upon my experience --
  • Sister Prine: I will certainly ask. For now, I will do things my way.
  • Sire Melk: Things look desperate, I suppose, but we'll turn this around.
  • Sister Prine: Blessed Throne, may the Emperor deliver us.
  • Sire Melk: Did we ever find out what happened to that missing tome?
  • Sister Prine: A reject stole it. She has been ... reprimanded.
  • Sire Melk: I think it may be time to consider new tactics.
  • Sister Prine: Or any tactics at all, perhaps?
  • Sister Prine: I dreamed of the Emperor last night. A good omen.
  • Sire Melk: We'll need more than omens to win this war.
  • Sister Prine: Do not falter, Sire Melk. Atoma will be free.
  • Sire Melk: Indeed it shall ... so long as these rejects play their part.
  • Sire Melk: I'll thank you not to stare at me like that.
  • Sister Prine: I am not staring at you. You are standing in my staring place.
  • Melk: Of course, all this was easier back in my day.
  • Sister Prine: I'm am surprised you can remember. It must be such a long time ago.
  • Sister Prine: Praise the Emperor in all things!
  • Sire Melk: Indeed, praise him!
  • Sister Prine: Will Grendyl ever join us here, I suppose?
  • Sire Melk: Very likely, but only when we least expect him.
  • Sire Melk: Hmmmm. I don't like that. I don't like that at all.
  • Sister Prine: Spare us your portentous mutterings, please.
  • Sister Prine: How goes the day, Sire Melk?
  • Sire Melk: As expected ... but it shouldn't get any worse than that.
  • Sister Prine: You should practice politeness, Sire Melk. We depend on these rejects.
  • Sire Melk: And what, pray, is the point of giving them airs?
  • Sister Prine: Do you ever sleep?
  • Sire Melk: Sleep is for the young ... and the dead.

  • Judge: His babble is best ignored.

  • Male Cutthroat: Oh. His most nobleness-ness-ness, Lord Darius Melk?
