It is the Era Indomitus and Tertium is the planetary capital of Atoma Prime, the center of the Moebian Domain. Tertium Hive of Atoma is a significant war supplies manufacturer and interstellar trade capital, in part due to being a notable manufacturer of Leman Russ Battle Tanks.

The Moebian Domain is a semi-autonomous fiefdom, comprised of several important worlds and subsectors over an expansive tract of Imperial space, vital to the Imperium of Man.

Atoma is home to a large number of manufactorums and a unique known as Moebian Steel. It's much stronger than other similar metals and often used to create armour plating for Leman Russ Tanks, voidship hulls, and even infantry armour, at least according to some propaganda.

Overview[]

Atoma Prime

Atoma Prime

As the center of the Moebian Domain, Atoma Prime is the Trade capital of the Sector and the linchpin of Imperial sovereignty. Tertium is the seat of power for Atoma and the wider Moebian Domain. The title of office for the ruler of both is "Lord Moebian". The current Lord Moebian is Lord Margrave, the 13th successive member of his house to hold the office.

In the ongoing Fringe War across the domain's borders, Atoma is also the primary trade and supply hub for regiments fighting on the frontlines. The world manufactures supplies, such as naval voidships and Leman Russ battle tanks, for Naval and Armoured regiments respectively. Moebian regiments regularly return to Tertium to restock on supplies. This included munitions, manpower, food and water rations, as well as new recruits drawn from the hive's sizable population to recoup losses. Atoma is the key trade and supply hub for the sector and this fact is further underpinned with the current Warp storm isolating the domain from the rest of the Imperium.

The Moebian Domain has been continually beset by various Chaos and Xenos threats from the Moebian Domain's Fringes, locally referred to as the Darktide. Atoma Prime has raised many Moebian regiments over the millennia which held the Darktide at bay, keeping Atoma Prime and the rest of the sector defended. The domain has been stable and prosperous since M36, but beginning in early M41 the threats from the Fringes have been steadily increasing.

Uprising & War[]

Wolfer kneeling to dreg

Moebian 6th leader, Captain Wolfer, making a pact with the Cult of Admonition (dregs).

Now a fragment of the Darktide has revealed itself in the heart of the domain. Atoma's greatest Imperial Guard regiment, the Moebian 6th, were deployed to the forsaken world of Nox Alpha and were corrupted by the chaos god Nurgle. Hiding this fact, they returned to Atoma for resupply and redeployment.

The return to Atoma Prime for resupply is standard for Moebian Regiments preparing for their next deployment. However, the 6th brought something back with them, a contagion, seemingly the Walking Pox, or possibly Nox Pox as it was called when first encountered on Nox Alpha.

Their return to Atoma coincided with a citizen uprising occurring in the lower hive districts. Lead by the fanatical Nurgle cult known as Admonition, informally known to the Inquisition's warband as the dregs, they would spread a plague in the lower hive levels while fighting authorities. Enforcers would attempt to combat the uprising as well as contain the blight's spread with quarantines. Bolstered by their dark rituals and the hordes of rising dead, Tertium's forces would lose ground. Conveniently, the Moebian 6th would be redirected from their next Moebian Fringe deployment to instead assist in the quarantine and uprising.

The Moebian 6th would seemingly aid in this effort for a time, only to better position themselves for their impending treachery. The Cult of Admonition and the Moebian 6th had struck some kind of pact at some point. The unsuspecting loyalists would be struck with a heavy blow from the betrayal of the once-beloved Moebian 6th.

Plotters in Tertium's upper spires appear to have orchestrated the cultist uprising and possibly the corruption of the 6th, utilizing them as both a vector for the transporting the Walking Pox to Atoma and as a powerful weapon to unseat Imperial rule of Atoma Prime. The seditionists and Admonition had been operating in Tertium's rotten heart heart for some time. The former may have also facilitated the proliferation of the latter, but that is speculation.

Now, the cultists of the lower hive levels and the seditionists in the upper hive spires have struck a mighty blow. The 6th's military strength was used to strike at the rusting Imperial chains shackling Atoma Prime. However, Inquisitor Grendyl has an interest in Atoma Prime and would not see this world fall. The Inquisitor has sent a warband of their acolytes to defend Atoma's captial city, Tertium Hive. If Tertium falls, the rest of the Moebian Domain will undoubtedly follow.

Tertium Hive[]

Darktide Logo

Atoma Prime, the jewel of the Moebian Domain, who's capital city is Hive Tertium, the greatest city in the sector, once had a population of 90 billion human souls living beneath it's barely breathable skies and acrid, orange deserts. Some dare say Tertium is the greatest planetary capital for 3 sectors and that hive cities the pinnacle for human habitation. While laborers and dregs toil in the muck, the nobles squabble and conspire against one another for power and position. Faith, Steel, and a stagnant, fetid pool of squabbling nobles make up the glorious heritage of Tertium.

Tertium has an overtly violent policing and security forces referred to as Enforcers, who control the lower classes of the Hive and are easily corrupted. This is common in large Imperial settlements and Tertium is the center of industry for the system's most of its history. Veteran professional mentions that they've overheard Rannick stating that Metalfab 36 'supplies half the subsector'. Points of pride for the populous are the highly productive manufactorums known for creating special Leman Russ Battle Tanks, the Hive's thriving liturgical drama scene centered around Saint Messelina, their rivetting Camelid races, and the many Moebian Regiments recruited from the world, the Moebian 6th being the most celebrated one.

Tertium-joakim-ericsson-1

Authorities keeps the truth of the wars hidden. Stories of the continual Fringe Wars against the unspecified Darktide has lead many civilians to view this Darktide as more of a "boogey-man", than a true existential threat. The residents of Tertium appear quite insular; ignorant to the reality of the endless Fringe Wars, as well as anything beyond the hive city's walls.

Hive Tertium is a world unto itself. The authorities are brimming with corruption, crime, intrigue. The zealous regularly murder those they deem sinners in back alleys (such as the Carnival) and in mass purges or witch-hunts (Such as the Storm of Righteousness purge). The stagnation and rot at Tertium's heart, there since it's inception, has begun to manifest. The barrier between reality and the roiling Immaterial sea has weakened and portent of flies, rot and decay are everywhere.

Notes/sources
  • The veil between the Materium and Immaterium is growing thin in Tertium. Psykers sense portents of flies, rot and decay everywhere. (Moebian 21st Psykana Tunic)
  • There is mention of a psyker witch-hunts in Subject 314/219/Psi - bundle: "This subject, now known as 314/219/Psi was captured on a witch-hunt during the much-heralded Storm of Righteousness purge of Atoma Prime." Whether this purge was a recent event or not isn't specified.
  • "Possible Xenos sighting in Deep Hive District Perditium-15. Auric-class operatives to investigate." - Servitor Announcer in the Mourningstar
  • In some of the most afflicted areas of Tertium you might notice whispered words filter in through the comms equipment. This is nothing to be alarmed about. Pay no heed to their words, for they seek only to corrupt. (Hyrmes III Vox-Strap Comms)
  • Certain Tertium data records in the Hourglass have been completely wiped clean which clearly surprises/stuns Hadron as she tries to access them. "Flow Control Hub Delta-12 is under the control of ... data not found. Fascinating."

Structure[]

"Tertium is quite airy as far as Hive cities go." - Sergeant Major Morrow

Tertium's is a continent sized sprawling mountain of layers of reinforced plasteel and rockcrete. There are many modes of transport through the hive's various superstructures. Trains on magna-rail, lifting platforms and elevators both large and small, and aerocraft are all used to various degrees. Like most hive cities, the cobbled-together nature of the layered superstructures make it susceptible to hive-quakes and structural collapse.

Transit train station concept art joakim ericsson

Chasm Terminus

Tertium has many expansive chasms and gargantuan cavernous pockets. These areas can be so large as to almost give the impressive of being under open skies. The various lights dotting the rigidly backdrop of Throneside district's ceiling almost give an impression of starlight, and inverted-towers hanging from the hive-layers above almost stalactites in a monolithic cavern.

As Morrow puts it, "Tertium is quite airy as far as Hive cities go". He's fought in a few different ones throughout his military career. This expansive airspace allows for regular aerial skirmishes to occur, alongside the deployment of strike teams via Valkyries. There is even a voidship, possibly a frigate, in the distance at Consignment Yard Sigma-57 in Metalfab-36. It's possible that it could be in the process of being built, disassembled, or repaired.

Like most Hive Worlds, Atoma Prime's collapsed biosphere has rendered the planet into an irradiated, polluted desert referred to as the Witherlands. While the planet still retains an atmosphere, it is even more hazardous than the polluted, recycled air of Tertium. The hive has what is referred to as an "atmospheric shield", also known as the "hive skin", which seems to act as a barrier; keeping the harsh elements of the Witherlands out and the more tolerable air of the Hive city within. The atmospheric shield seen in Sector Periferus seems to be made of gargantuan sheets of metal that create a physical barrier to the outside, protecting the interior of the hive from sandstorms of the planet. Most of the Hive's air is tolerable, to varying degrees, assumedly due to various air scrubbers that are sometimes mentioned in Ventilation Purge missions.

This is speculation, but there could be 5 primary Hive Spires in Tertium. The Loner Psyker personality will sometimes swear by or make exclamations such as "By the five!" or "By the five rusted spires, that's ugly!". There are clearly more than 5 spires around the iconic twinned spire able to be seen from Atoma's high orbit. It isn't even clear whether this phrase related to Tertium at all. The 5 spires could be strictly for noble houses, while the others are naval depots. However, this is unfounded speculation.

Hive Districts[]

"Hundreds of city districts comprise Tertium Hive. Some are dozens of square miles in size, while others are far larger. Stories told for generations suggest that the Larger districts were once hive cities in their own right, and that Tertium Hive absorbed them as it grew. Few alive today believes such tales, but they are still passed down and reinforced in people's minds by the distinct character of some districts." (Darktide: Miniatures Game - rulebook, page 25)

Agents of Inquisitor Grendyl have been been hidden amongst many of these districts long before the war broke out and the warband aboard the Mourningstar only explores a fraction of them. Lower hive districts are often refereed to generally as "downside".

HL-9-43, "Coldiron Stack"

Known locally as Coldiron Stack, HL-9-43 is a district located in the western reaches of Hive Tertium. Once a smaller hive-city unto itself, it was adsorbed into Hive Tertium long ago.

The conical structure of the district barely reaches above the Hive's surface, and is easily overshadowed by the spires of neighboring districts. Coldiron Stack is built atop an underground glacier that is mined for it's foul-tasting, but drinkable water-rations. These water-rations are sub-par compared to the purified water of the Torrent, but it is still traded to lower-class inhabitants of neighboring districts. More importantly, Coldiron Stack's meltwater-rations are provided to the Moebian regiments fighting in the Fringe Wars, when those regiments return for resupply on Atoma Prime.

The district was taken control of by heretics immediately after the Moebian 6th's treachery was unveiled. A battalion of the 6th was well within the mines and all throughout the district when the traitors began their attack from within. The only point of entering or exiting the district is via magna-rail at Coldiron Terminus, the primary mass transport hub of the district. Coldiron Tertimus was easily defensible from the Lord Governor's counterattack attempts of sending Astra Militarum to retake the district. This railway is also the means by which the heretics poison the neighboring district's water supplies with contagion.

One of Grendyl's most trust Interrogators, Procastor Catrion Inigo, is assigned to retake control of this district.

Inter-Zone Void Sector Omega-12

Within this forsaken Inter-Zone void is Atelium Foundryplex Omega V, referred to as "Clandestium Gloriana". This long-lost foundryplex, dormant for millennia, sits within the inter-zone void and holds the ability to produce the Moebian Steel of legend, far superior to the inferior quality "Moebian Steel" produced in present day. The grandeur and prosperity of the past, contrasts the decay and neglect of the present. While the forges have been quiet for 1000s of years…no one seemed to remember to turn off the coolant system. This contrast is further highlighted by the snow and ice which covers the level as a result of the forgotten coolant system.

The foundryplex is one of many lost temple-like facilities peppered throughout the bowels of Tertium. These fabled Machinaria Gloriana are long-forgotten wonders constructed to support Saint Messelina’s wars in the Moebian Domain, millenia ago. Each is rumoured to house some technological marvel that significantly aided the war effort. Unfortunately these have fallen out of service and become lost through the centuries.

This particular Foundryplex generates significant heat, possibly due in part to the plasma generators in the Sacrarium Mechanicus atop the foundryplex. This central pavilion crowning the superstructure is where the base alloy produced in present day Atoma is seemingly treated and transformed into the fabled Moebian Steel of old.

Mid Hive[]

Districts noted as being in the the middle portions of the hive.

Habzone HL-19-24 "Throneside"

Throne is located in the middle levels of the Tertium. The living conditions are higher quality than those found within the lower hive levels. The high ceilings of these Throneside districts make room for massive inverted towers hanging from the ceiling like stalactites.

Downside[]

Districts noted as being in the the lower portions of the hive. These are also referred to as "Downside".

Transit Hub HL-16-11, "Chasm Terminus"

Chams Terminus is a major transit hub for citizen transport in the lower hive levels. Chasm Station is a major transit train station of Tertium is currently in heretic hands, as well as most of the railways of Tertium. It is deemed more useful for the heretics to control it than the Inquisition, at this time.

The local hab blocks, such as Hab Dreyko, have been in a declining state of disrepair for some time, and were home to many of the poor folk eeking out a moderate living. Now these Habs are home to plague and quarantined. Deeper still, the nearby Hab Block Laranax harbors a Phage Tree, brought about by cultists' prayers and rituals, regrowing when destroyed and constantly spreading mutated contagions.

Manufactory HL-17-36, "Metalfab 36"

Metalfab 36 is the seems to produce Leman Russ Battle Tank parts. The Metalfab may also produce and assemble voidships, as seen in the distant of Consignment Yard Sigma-57.

Habzone HL-70-04, "The Carnival"

An entertainment district that deals in base pleasure and illicit trade. One of the main attractions in the district is found in the blood-sport arena called "The Gutbucket". The fighting pit also serves as an exhibition of the many illegal stimms manufactured and distributed in the district, making up nearly half the district's economy.

Known to Locals as the Carnival, and to Enforcers as The Pit, this den of drugs and degeneracy rarest commodity is hope. It's nearly impossible to claw one's way out of once caught in its claws and many vices.

Habzone HL-18-66, "The Torrent"

The Torrent is the lower hive district housing Tertium's massive water recycling facilities, however, the Administratum and enforcers have allowed it to become a crumbling shantytown ruled by criminals. The greedy and fractious Water Cartel is controls the facilities and they are operated by the forsaken citizens. The citizens must choose a side when living down here or be caught up in the cross-fire of the warring sub-factions of the cartel who constantly vie for power. Then the local Enforcers of the district were payed off by the Water Cartel decades ago.

Sector Periferus[]

Areas noted as being on the edges of Tertium's boundaries. These areas border the desert making up most of Atoma, known as the Witherlands.

Freight Port HL-32-2, "The Hourglass"

On the edges of Hive Tertium is the ruins of a once bustling trading port. Now on the border of the irradiated desert known as the Witherlands, stands the rusting spire colloquially known as "The Hourglass". Goods and people once came and went from voidcraft that stopped here to refuel, trade and restock. Now it's a barely functional superstructure falling apart due to neglect and abandonment from the Administratum. It has begun to be reused by vagrants, such as gangers, mutants, witches, and other outcasts of society. For decades, if not centuries, the Hourglass has continually been battered by acrid sandstorms from the Witherlands, and hive-quakes.

The pitiable state of near-collapse is most evident in the atmospheric shield, a massive dome or wall of massive metal sheets making up the hive's skin. A layer of defense against the acrid wasteland's environmental hazards, as well as protecting against solar radiation or keeping a certain level of somewhat breathable air within the hive city.

Inhabited by those on the periphery of society; gangers, outlaws, mutants, witches, and now the Cult of Admonition has laid claim to the Hourglass. It has now become a base of operations where they brew new plagues strains in the fuel refineries, export these via the pneumatic conveyors to then be distributed to cultist cells across Tertium. They have also begun broadcasting heretical messages of unbelief across Tertium, tainting the minds of those who hear their calls to join them.

Witherlands[]

Dunes concept art joakim ericsson FS 1

Concept art of The Hourglass, which borders the Witherlands.

The desert that makes up most of Atoma Prime is called the Witherlands. These orange, irradiated acrid wastelands are sometimes referred to simply as "Outside" to Tertium's inhabitants. The Witherlands are a harsher version of the sand-choked naval depot known as the Hourglass (Psykers Conclave-issue Tactical Shadowveil).

  • The red-orange dust of the Witherlands can be extremely corrosive (Gun-Dragger's Biggest & Best Trousers (XXXXL)).
  • "So tainted is the air on nearly every inhabited planet within the Moebian Domain that even the hardiest individuals would soon sicken without a rebreather to filter out the worst of the atmosphere's toxins." (Aurum Pattern Rebreather and Vox-Grill Amplifier).

This is speculation about what the "atmospheric shield" of the Hourglass is sometimes called the "hive skin" and it protects Tertium from the environmental hazards of the Witherlands. Enormous and destructive sandstorm batter the naval depot and the rest of Tertium could quickly look similar if the atmospheric shield collapses. The shield likely help contain Tertium's recycled air, to some degree.

Industry[]

Moebian Steel[]

main article: Moebian Steel

Metalfab-36-concept-art-joakim-ericsson-foundry-10

Tanks being produced in Tertium.

The secrets of creating true Moebian Steel were lost long ago, anything that states otherwise is propaganda. The base alloy smelted en masse in Atoma's Manufactorums today is far inferior to the fabled Moebian Steel of the past. The last creation of true Moebian Steel dates back millennia ago, during the time of Saint Messelina's crusades.

The 'base-alloy' that is currently in production on Atoma could be the "Moebian Iron" the Psyker Savant speaks of. Hadron states what is currently produced on Atoma is still a better-than-average metal that is tougher and stronger, but it's still a pale shadow of the true Moebian Steel produced millennia ago.

With recent developments in the war for Tertium, the Secrets of the Machine God have been revealed and both sides now seek to harness the Rite of Steel to mass produced Moebian Steel in Metalfab 36.

Production[]

Admech banner 1

A common Adeptus Mechanicus banner seen across Tertium.

Moebian Steel or not, Atoma's manufactorums produces Leman Russ Battle Tanks which could be the primary export of the planet. It also produced voidship hulls and other military armaments. All of these products could make up a portion of the planet's Imperial Tithe owed to the wider Imperium.

These tanks are the backbone of Astra Militarum armoured regiments across the Imperium and the various armoured Moebian regiments are hugely reliant on Atoma's manufactorums. Moebian regiments regularly resupply between campaign deployments on Atoma Prime. The primary smelter for Tertium's production of Moebian steel is HL-18-36, "Metalfab 36". Rannick states this metalfab supplies half the subsector's military (according to professional veteran dialogue).

Industrial Hub[]

Metalfab VII groaner symbol

Forge World Metalica symbol on clothing of a former worker.

Atoma attracts the best craftspeople from around the sector, according to Psyker Savant. Only adding to the superb production of Moebian Iron into Moebian Steel. This could be an attraction for Tech-Priests from distant Forge Worlds, benefitting both Atoma and the Adeptus Mechanicus tech-priests involved.

Potential evidence of this is seen in the markings of clothing on former workers (groaners and poxxers) in Metalfab 36. The symbol seen belongs to Forge World Metalica.

The Metalica insignia on these former menial workers or tech adepts suggests the presence of one or more resident Tech-Priests hailing from the Forge World Metalica. This suggests that Metalica might be assisting in Atoma's manufactorums and smelters. This Metalica Tech-Priest could be exchanging their services for the opportunity to study the breadth of the forges: from the Moebian Iron ore, to the smelting process, to production, and the final products.

Moebian Faith[]

main articles: Moebian Faith & the Wardenchain

Zealot preacher pin

The faith of the Moebian Domain are a vast amount of sect, churches, and shrines throughout the domain and it's fringes. Tertium and the many worlds of the domain have an abundance zealous chattel ready purge the unclean, whether neighbors in across the Moebian Fringe.

After the fall of Komaris, the Wardenchain was formed, linking together the multitude of sanctioned Imperial Creed Shrines of the Moebian Domain. At each sanctioned shrine in the domain a Warden is be inducted. The Warden can call upon the elite fighters that make up the shrineguard, as well as incite the various local militias into a zealous rabble eager to fight and die for the God-Emperor. Together these fanatical mobs can make concerted efforts in war, sometimes aiding Astra Militarum forces fighting in the Moebian Fringe.

Saint Messelina[]

main article: Saint Messelina

When speaking of faith in the Moebian Domain, there is no avoiding mention of the deceased Saint Messelina, Most famous saint of the Moebian domain, cornerstone of many of the domain's Imperial faith, Saint Messelina has many shrines and hymns dedicated to her across the Moebian Domain.

As is stated to nauseum, Tertium has flourishing public worship practices and gathering. Most of these are dedicated to a key Imperial Saint who belonged to the Moebian Domain and brought an age of peace through bloody slaughter, Saint Messelina. Glorified across the domain, she has many churches, shrines, and cathedrals in Tertium. From Throneside to the Torrent places of her worship are found.

Politics[]

main article: Noble Houses

Tertium's Politics[]

Tertium cinematic orbit

The ruling-classes of Atoma are all pulled into the eternal rivalry between two most powerful Noble Houses of Tertium, House Barquette and House Margrave. It has been this way for thousands of years ever since the M36 civil war, where the now-ruling house, the Margraves, lead an uprising against the former-ruling house, the Barquettes. The effects of that civil war and rivalry can still be felt across Tertium today. (Cannon Carter's Biggest & Best Armour (XXXXL))

The current War for Atoma seems to be - at least partially - an inside job. There are secessionists aiding the heretic's war efforts from within the ruling class of Tertium's nobility, however, what party is aiding the heretics remains a mystery to all - except the most trusted of Inquisitor Grendyl's associates.

Noble Houses[]

The four most powerful houses in the Moebian Domain are Margrave, Barquette, Consora, and Van Sparzi.

Carmine Fellowship splash-screen cropped

The nobles of Atoma are protected by the Carmine Fellowship, a secretive religious cult. They guard the golden Bastion-Observatory on Atoma's largest moon Atrox. This Bastion-Observatory has a vault below that stores many of the treasures and heirlooms of the nobility. After the uprising and war in Tertium began, the psychic wards protecting this vault have been under attack by the Cult of Admonition.

House Margrave

Black Guard Uniform (Moebian 33rd) (Upper Body)

Moebian 33rd veteran

The ruling house of the domain. Their lineage has held the office of Lord Moebian since taking it from the Barquettes in M36. The Moebian 33rd "Blackguard" as a personal guard regiment loyal to their house, or at least Lord Margrave. Serving the Margraves since the civil war.

  • Blaze Force Sword (Moebian Parade) - tab
Constant Margrave - Sister of the current ruling Lord Margrave. She appears to be an active political figure - full of intrigue and political machinations - in the present upper hive politics of Tertium. (Soldier's Punishment Uniform & Thought Witch's Duty Raiment)(unreleased commissary armor)
  • Lord Constance Margrave - Although not 100% confirmed, Lord Constance Margrave is assumedly the current Lord Moebian, 13th of the family line to hold the office and rule the Moebian Domain. The Lord Margrave is described as an exceptionally ambitious and bold man noted for his brutality and lack of empathy. Amongst the unscrupulous nobility, there is are apparent schemes to unseat the Lord Margrave. These plans are assumedly linked to the mysterious conspirators amongst the spires that aid the heretic's war efforts.
  • Sire Mangolin of House Margrave - A highborn representative of House Margrave observing some the Inquisition's affairs.
  • Etrasia - Psyker bound to House Margrave. A servant of House Margrave that's now been drafted into the Inquisitorial service of Interrogator Inigo. They are fighting heretics in District HL 93-4, "Coldiron Stack".

House Barquette

Cleaver (Barquettes Honour)

House Barquette once held the office of Lord Moebian for a portion of M35 going into M36, when the house forced Atoma's focus to unmitigated resource exploitation and explosive industrial profits. This lead to both the construction of Tertium and it's golden age, as well as the ecological collapse of the biosphere, creating a world of orange acrid deserts and industrial waste.

Know for being ostentatious, Gold Plate metal armour is said to be a marker of the days when House Barquette was in charge. The Barquettes are recognized for their often garish clothing (gold plates & vibrant blues, reds, etc) while the Margraves are recognized by more solemn dour clothing (reds, browns, blacks). (Meatshield's Day/Dress Uniforms). House Margrave is the current ruling house of Atoma Prime.

  • Gunther Barquette is one of the most powerful nobles of Atoma, and his heraldry can be seen on his personal guard (Cleaver (Cleaver (Barquette's Honour))).
  • Mamzel Durellia of House Barquette - A highborn representative of House Barquette observing some the Inquisition's affairs.
  • Amelia Barquette - a hive rat of no renown, who is only a Barquette in name, she has recently sought to make a name for herself. While on a personal crusade destroying illicit stimm production in the Carnival District, she was recruited by one of Inquisitor Grendyl's agents. Thus becoming a fellow reject in the warband.

House Consora

House Consora is given a positive view by Hestia Prine, an educated novitiate of the Ecclesiarchy who cares deeply for the common people of the domain.

  • Militant General Riga Consora - A member of House Consora held in high esteem that worked towards the betterment of the Moebian Domain. Refered to as one of the few "good souls attempting to steer the fate of Atoma." (Short Story: Into the Shadows)

House Van Sparzi

The ruling house of Branx Magna, a world that now rivals the industrial output of Atoma in M41.

Crime[]

Many illegal goods are sold in Tertium, from locally produced stimms to exotic Xenos technology. In recent years, T'au (Tau) sensors have been impounded at some Enforcer Bastions (and possibly even Tau rifles). (Savant and Cutthroat)

The Carnival[]

main article: The Carnival

An entertainment district and de facto black market hub of Tertium. It is home to a plethora of crime, blood-sport, drugs, and debauchery.

Known Criminal Groups[]

  • Water Cartel - Various squabbling sub-factions fight each other for control over the Torrent. Noticeable by their purple banners and clothing.
  • Durkham's Raiders - Hive Gang (possibly a Tertium gang). Orange and cream colors of this gang are associated with the lower levels of the hive (Slasher Hivescum Headgear)
  • Sky Reavers - An aerial nuisance referred to by Zola as "Our old friends the Sky Reavers." after Masozi states she was tailed by "you know who" after a drop. Likely a group of aerial raiders making use of Tertium's generous airspace within the hive city.
  • Throne Lane Regulars - A group of criminals who control Throne Lane. Lead by the Ogryn, Torg, they were once quite proud of their distinctive yellow armour, until the Admonition appeared. Now they defend Throne Lane from heretics.
  • Sandfleas - A rag-tag group of outlaws within the Hourglass district. They've been a thorn in the side for any Magistrum Enforcers sent to that district for generations.

Known Criminals[]

  • Rax Coran - A nasty individual who has set up shop in the deep hive. (according to Sefoni)
  • Sump King - An Ogryn leader of one of the lower level areas of the Torrent. "Tertium's Enforcers had a brief dalliance with seconding Ogryns in the more troubled parts of the hive." (Sump King's Leathers)
  • Caligas the Knife (deceased) - A man who ran Trader's Row in the Torrent prior to the war. The Water Cartel factions frequently skirmish and fight for control of Trader's Row. Caligas the Knife was killed by heretics, according to Zola. In the same piece of dialogue, Zola wishes she could have killed him herself, as a former denizen of the Torrent.

TLDR: Tertium Timeline[]

  • The Moebian 6th seemingly at some point turns traitor while on the Fringe War frontline but don't reveal themselves.
  • Inquisitor Grendyl sends Wyrmwood agents to investigate Atoma Prime.
  • Wyrmwood agents report back to Grendyl discovery of cult activity of unknown kind, requesting the aid of the Mourningstar.
  • A mysterious plague begins to outbreak in several zones in Tertium while an uprising within the lower levels of hive occur.
  • Parts of the Moebian 6th resupplying in Tertium are reassigned from the their next deployment to the frontline of the Fringe War to instead assist with quarantine control in the hive.
  • The Moebian 6th units assigned to aid Tertium, once strategically emplaced, reveal themselves to be traitor and turn on the loyalist defenders of Militia and Enforcers, begin attacking the hive, and join forces with the Cult. Murdering civilians, securing beachheads and setting fire to key points of the city.
  • The Wyrmwood agent suggests her theory that members of the Moebian 6th are the ones who brought Nurgle's plague to Atoma in the first place.
  • The Mourningstar at some point in this timeline has arrived and begins inquisitorial duties - they send a squad down to the darkness of the underhive to further investigate and they are set upon by hordes of poxwalkers and a chaos spawn. The warband begins imprisoning any considered guilty of heresy. In a trailer we see the elite squad in desperate battle with Captain Wolfer - in game we see the elite squad has survived and Captain Wolfer is now imprisoned opposite the player during the Tutorial intro.
  • The Prisonship comes under attack from a Moebian 6th assault in order to free Captain Wolfer - the result of which also frees the player character, who manages to escape the besieged vessel with the aid of Explicator Zola, earning themselves a chance at redemption on the Mourningstar.
  • Grendyl/Rannick makes the decision to start pressganging penal soldiers into the warband to fill in the gaps after suffering losses of Auric operatives to the traitor guard.
